Safeguarding adults

Safeguarding adults - what is it?

This page explains what you can do if you are being abused or you suspect somebody else is. It applies to anyone over eighteen and living in Tameside. The abuse of adults is a significant and complex problem, which requires a coordinated response.

We adhere to safeguarding procedures that have been formulated and agreed with Tameside Adult Safeguarding Partnership Board. This is an interagency group - all of whom are committed with the health and welfare of adults in Tameside.  All are working together to identify, manage and respond to abuse against adults in a collaborative manner.

You can view a copy of our Trust policy on Safeguarding Adults Policy here.  For further information contact Nasrin Khadim, Head of Adult Safeguarding and Prevent on 0161 922 6192/5202.

We recognise that the abuse of adults is a reality. We are fully committed to safeguarding adults from abuse and ensuring the delivery of compassionate and dignified care.

As an organisation, we are committed  to ensure that patients remain at the centre of our care and that our staff are skilled and alert in detecting and reporting abuse. Everyone is entitled to:

  • Fairness
  • Respect
  • Equality
  • Dignity
  • Autonomy
  • Right to Life
