  • Dr Marsden - Associate Specialist Paediatrician (Audiology)
  • Education – Teacher of the Deaf (ToD)

ENT Department

  • We perform various diagnostic assessments for our ENT colleagues

  • Nurse Led Clinic

    • We can provide a referral for wax clearance (We have our own suction clinic but for more complex cases i.e. mastoid cavities, we will refer to Nurse Led Clinic)
  • Dr Marsden - Associate Specialist Paediatrician (Audiology)

    • Assisting with testing neonates, babies and children
    • Fitting hearing aids
  • Education – Teacher of the Deaf (ToD)

    • Liaising to ensure children cope within the school environment
  • Social Services

    • Social Services can provide help and advice on adaptations in the home

 

Hearing Aids

    • Latest advanced digital hearing aids suitable for mild to profound losses
    • Adults – Oticon, Phonak and Starkey hearing aids
    • Paediatrics - Oticon, Phonak and Starkey hearing aids
    • Hearing aids are individually programmed through a computer, to the person’s hearing test
    • Hearing tests are recommended every 3 years
    • There are different ear fittings which can be fitted dependent on the type of loss; ear moulds or open fits
    • Programmes can be added to enhance listening in different environments. These are activated by the Audiologist after discussing the patients individual requirements
    • The Audiologist will have in depth discussions before and after the hearing aid fitting
    • Each person is treated with a holistic approach

  • You need your hearing aid tubing changing every 6 months.

Swim Plugs

 

Swim moulds provide an opportunity to adults and young children to take part in their normal day to day water based activities, such as showering, swimming etc. Swim moulds generally provide an added layer of protection, protecting the ear canal and middle ear from infections

 

There is an additional cost of £15 per swim plug

 

If anyone feels they would like a swim plug please contact the Audiology Department on 0161 922 6381 who will be happy to assist

 

 

How to access our service?

We accept GP direct referrals for people aged over 18 with hearing problems.

The department offers Assessments at:-

  • Dukinfield Health Centre
  • Glossop PCC
  • Tameside Hospital
  • Home visits (if housebound)

You can state your preferable location to your GP

We also operate a booked appointment system for all hearing aid repairs, servicing and adjustments at the hospital or a drop-in retube and batteries service at the clinics.
