Portage

Team: Portage

Who do we work with?

We work with preschool children who live in Tameside and have additional needs, with significant development delay.

Parents and carers must be happy to participate and practice agreed activities between Portage visits.

What we do:

  • We offer monthly home visits to children who are under one year of age.
  • Fortnightly home visits for children over one year of age.
  • Weekly visits are offered where a need is identified or if a short piece of targeted support is required.
  • Monthly Portage groups are available for families known to our service.
  • Transition support when a Portage child begins attending a pre-school setting.

Where are we based and where do we work?

Portage workers are based both at Rowan House and Jubilee Gardens.

We work predominantly with children in their own homes and we liaise with Early Years settings to aid with transition.

Who do we work with?

Preschool children living in Tameside, their families and /or carers, when the young person is not accessing an early years setting or child minder provision.
