Dignity and respect is an important part of all our services. A daisy mark is awarded to services who offer exceptional dignity in their care.
The daisy mark symbol shows that services have undertaken an accreditation scheme which ensures they deliver care with dignity and respect.
The accreditation provides training to staff and encourages people to become dignity champions. The service also has to provide evidence against the Department of Health’s ten standards of the dignity. It uses patients’ experiences to improve dignity and respect. Upon completion and passing the accreditation the service receives a plaque to demonstrate to the public their achievement and commitment to dignity.
This accreditation is a local scheme and although it is led by the NHS there are many other partners that have gained accreditation including Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council, Tameside College, local care homes, sheltered accommodation, Age UK, Ashton Primary care Centre and Shire Hill Hospital. We all observe and share dignity best practice.
The daisy mark scheme has won national awards including the prestigious Nursing Times dignity and has experienced staff from all partners working together to deliver care with dignity and respect.
Look out for our staff wearing a daisy badge or see our posters around the Trust detailing showing which services have achieved the daisy mark. Members of the public wishing to learn more about the daisy mark accreditation or wanting to nominate a service for their care please contact Janet by email janetlaurarobson@nhs.net or visit www.daisymark.co.uk
