Lung disease can be extremely debilitating for sufferers. Symptoms such as breathlessness and increased fatigue will impact directly on daily activities. Reduced levels of activity will make these symptoms worse, resulting in a vicious cycle of inactivity.
Pulmonary rehabilitation is a multidisciplinary programme designed to reduce symptoms of lung disease. It is individually tailored and designed to optimise physical and social performance and functional independence.
NHS Tameside and Glossop Pulmonary Rehabilitation team provide a service that encourages individuals to increase their levels of
activity and support them to manage their lung condition more effectively.
Pulmonary rehab is a 6 week programme, combining both exercise and education. Each week, there will be two sessions, each session lasting two hours. These sessions will enable you to increase your knowledge and skills in managing your condition and improving your quality of life.
