Winter Wellbeing help for people struggling over Christmas
11 December 2019

Tameside Oldham and Glossop Mind are launching a brand new “Winter Wellbeing” service to help people cope better with Christmas and the winter months. Residents of Tameside struggling with their mental health can get immediate access to a mental health worker and have a chat about stress, isolation, money worries or anything else that might affect their wellbeing. They will be offered support, access to social activities at TOGMIND as well as signposting to other services they may need - Plus a free drink and snack in Topaz Café and Wellbeing Centre.

“The festive period can be a happy time but for many, it can have a negative effect on mental health and wellbeing. The winter months can be hard for people as issues such as money, stress, worry and isolation often increase” says Rebecca Stambridge Winter Wellbeing Project Manager.

“We aim to help people get through the winter months by offering 1-1 support and ensuring people know what’s available at TOGMIND and elsewhere in Tameside”.

The Winter Wellbeing Programme started on Monday 9th December and sessions are available on:

  • Mondays 1pm - 3.30pm
  • Tuesdays 10am - 12.00pm
  • Thursdays 1pm - 3.30pm
  • Fridays 10am - 12pm

Winter Wellbeing visitors can also use vouchers available at the café to get a hot drink and snack.

If you would like to speak to someone regarding the project or register interest over the phone please call the TOG Mind office on 0161 330 9223.
