Tameside Hospital launches new community health events

This Saturday (9th May) is the first in a series of new community events hosted by Tameside Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. The events aim to bring the hospital’s consultants, nurses and healthcare professionals into the heart of the Tameside community to discuss and educate the public on specific conditions. The campaign series are entitled: Tameside Hospital at the Heart of the Community;

In the first of the series, Professor Edward Jude, a Consultant Diabetologist and Endocrinologist, will be joined by Kathryn McGladdery, Diabetes Specialist Nurse and Tracy Barker, Specialist Dietician to discuss a range of issues around the prevention, management and treatment of diabetes.

The event on Saturday is open to everyone and will run from 10am until 12 noon at Ashton Town Hall, with refreshments provided.

Those attending will get a better insight into learning a little more about what diabetes is - the diagnosis of Diabetes, complications, diet and prevention.  There is an opportunity to have a chat with the experts and discuss any issues or questions you may have about yourself or relatives diabetes.

Professor Jude said: “This is a great opportunity for the communities of Tameside to learn more about diabetes, what causes it, what happens to you and how it can be managed. I’m delighted to be hosting the first in a series of community events provided by the hospital and I think it’s an excellent way to gain knowledge and insight on conditions that affect many members of our community.”
