Response to Monitor’s announcement regarding plans to transform Tameside Hospital NHS Foundation Trust into an integrated care organisation
12 September 2014

Tameside Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, Tameside and Glossop Clinical Commissioning Group and Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council welcome the announcement made today by foundation trust regulator, Monitor, that they will be commissioning a team of experts to look at a ‘first of its kind’ integrated health care organisation for the people of Tameside and Glossop.

This will mean that local residents will benefit from an ‘integrated’ care organisation that provides seamless healthcare and crucially improves patient outcomes.

Whilst we have been discussing the idea of an integrated care organisation for some time and have begun seeking views from our public about joining up care, we are still in the early stages; therefore we are not yet able to describe exactly what an organisation of this type will look like. However, this is a very exciting time for the people of Tameside and Glossop and all three organisations involved.

We will provide regular updates on the plans as we progress.
