RIGHT on cue kind-hearted painters and decorators have clubbed together to buy a new snooker table for young patients at Tameside Hospital after seeing the sorry state of the old one.
Dean Wilson, Lee Cutler and Damian Rocks from the Bell Group, and Daniel Emmens from Balfour Beatty, were working on the children’s ward this week and decided to replace the old table in the adolescent play room, a spontaneous gesture of generosity that has touched the hearts of everyone at the Hospital.
Angela Upsall, Play Specialist & Playroom Manager, says staff couldn’t believe it when they saw what the team had done: “They were here to brighten up the ward with their brushes and paint, but they’ve gone much further and brightened the lives of lots of poorly children. We can’t thank them enough.”
Dean has brushed off the praise saying he and the lads just wanted to make a bit of a difference: “ It didn’t cost a lot of money. We all of us have children of our own and if ever any of them need treatment we know Tameside Hospital is here to help.
“We’re glad to put a smile on a few young faces. That’s reward enough.”
