In partnership with NHS Careers and the Florence Nightingale Foundation, nurses across theUKare engaging their local communities to highlight the outstanding practice of nurses and their impact on patient care. They’ll also be showcasing the difference made by nurses to the health of individuals and the nation, including examples of extraordinary compassion and innovation.

Tameside Hospital’s Deputy Director of Nursing Beverley Tabernacle said: “We just wanted to say a big thank you to all our nurses for all their hard work, dedication and commitment and for everything they do, day in day out, to improve the treatment and care for patients here atTamesideHospital. They are very special people and deserve recognition, so on Florence Nightingale’s birthday, we wanted to give them a little something to say thank you.

“International Nurses Day is a great opportunity for us to celebrate the fantastic work of nurses atTamesideHospital. It is also a real chance for us to promote nursing as a career option for young people, and the Hospital has also signed up to the ‘Inspiring Futures’ initiative with NHS Careers. There are still a lot of myths about nursing as a career and with the support and resources of NHS Careers and the Florence Nightingale Foundation we are able to challenge these.

“Our thanks also go to ASDA for providing and delivering these lovely baskets of fruit as part of International Nurses Day
