Tameside Hospital’s team of radiographers helped to promote the work they do by celebrating World Radiography Day on Thursday, November 8.
Posters were put up, stickers and fluffy owls were given out and information on how to become a radiographer was offered to visitors. Tameside Hospital staff were also invited to an open session to see and ask questions about the department.
Radiographers use imaging to diagnose illness and injury using x-ray, ultrasound, computerised tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), mammography, nuclear medicine, fluoroscopy and angiography. They also work in operating theatres.
Ella Donsalla, Band 5 radiographer at Tameside Hospital, said: “It’s about promoting radiography and the hospital, and informing people about all the good work that we do that they are not really aware of.”
