Tameside Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is inviting expressions of interest from four leading NHS Hospital Trusts to develop a strategic partnership.
Tameside Hospital already has strong clinical links with the four organisations, Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, The Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust, Stockport NHS Foundation Trust and University Hospital of South Manchester NHS Foundation Trust.
For a number of months, the Trust has been discussing proposals for change with staff, as well as with other key stakeholders across Tameside, Glossop and Greater Manchester.
Like many other hospitals, it has recognised the need to make service changes to reflect the economic climate and increasing public and patient expectations.
Tameside Hospital’s Chief Executive Christine Green said:
“Continuing to provide high quality care to patients is our main priority. The purpose of such a partnership is to help to sustain local hospital services at the same time as recognising the challenging economic climate and the drive for clinical effectiveness.”
By mid February the Trust will have considered the proposals and should be in a position to outline its next steps
