Pupils from St Anne’s RC Primary School in Audenshaw have raised £206 for Tameside Hospital’s Trauma Unit.
The whole school attended an assembly organised by headteacher Eileen Gaffney, where they were told about the work done by the Trauma Unit.
Each class then organised different fundraising events, which included sponsored walks, baking and jewellery making.
Staff Nurse Nicola Goldstraw and Nursing Auxiliary Richard Ball attended a community assembly where they were presented with a cheque before explaining how the money could be spent.
Mrs Gaffney said: “All the children were really happy with their achievement and it was decided to ask Tameside Hospital if they could send two members of staff from the Trauma Unit to come to collect a cheque from school.
“The children had prepared a cheque, rather than just posting it, so we could actually meet the representatives from the Trauma Unit. The children were very interested in finding out how the money could be spent in supporting the unit.”
