Sister Georgina Harrison, was nominated for an Excellence in Care award by patient Ann Andrew who remarked on the kindness shown by Georgina to a severely disabled patient who was waiting to be seen in fracture clinic.
Ann said: “She brought tears to my eyes by the kindness she showed. She did not know she was being observed and this lady was not waiting for her.
“She just stopped to comfort her. I could not hear what she was saying but the way she stroked this lady’s arm and her sheer body language spoke volumes. Thank goodness for nurses like her.”
Georgina, 49, was selected by the awards panel to receive a runner up prize in this quarter Excellence in Care award.
“It’s nice to be recognised for the things you do,” said Georgina, who has worked at the hospital for 32 years. “I like my job and I like helping people.
“Nursing is very much a vocation and my motto is, ‘treat others as you would want to be treated’.“
Georgina, from Hadfield, was presented with £25 shopping vouchers and a certificate by Trust Chair Paul Connellan.
